Stress. It destroys the body, frustrates the mind, weakens the spirit and makes the soul cry out for mercy. TMO and I have had our fair share over the last few years, but right now is particularly stressful for him. What is an Earthy/Air fella to do when the stress becomes too much? Get out of Dodge for starters.
When he got home this past Friday, we made a quick decision to pack a couple bags and hit the road for the first place that offered a bit of serenity. At first we put our sites on Garden of the Gods in Harrisburg, IL, but the Gods knew we needed more than the gardens... my Earthy/Air guy needed WATER. Like divine intervention a traffic jam helped us catch the eye of Rend Lake Resort. We pulled over at this exit and checked in for a relaxing two day reprieve.
We took a five-mile hike where I stopped at every wildflower I saw.
TMO went on for another five miles, while I hit the pool.
The scenery was blissful, and gave us plenty of time to reflect on
what the future holds for us in Salem.
Gentle strolls, long naps and in-room massages helped bring us back to center.
