Thought I better get my end of month post up before October takes over! Even though it was it the 90s most of the month, I sure enjoyed this September. Here are a few outtakes.
I enjoyed the zinnias all throughout September, and the garden strips are still in full bloom! I may have bouquets through November! This is the easiest to grow flower that I know of.
For the Autumn Equinox and my early birthday celebration we gathered with Michelle and Amos and went to Schwartz Orchard in Centralia, IL.
It was raining, so I didn't get to pick the apples myself in the orchard, but we did find lots of goodies in their gift shop, such as honey, cherry-flavored apple cider, and this HUGE caramel apple from their bakery. Caramel apple is my favorite fall flavor.
We also grabbed a half peck of these beauties. I used an apple crisp recipe and baked them, which I served over vanilla bean ice cream, with caramel sauce and whipped cream.
The next day The Mighty Oak took out four trees in our front yard. It's hard work, but he absolutely loves working like this on the farm, and I love seeing him happy!
And then there was Homecoming. At the very end of the month, Sophia stole the show with her natural beauty and 5'10" frame. Witchy Woods was the perfect place to take pictures too.
TMO, Jack and I spent the last day of September putting up two deer stands at Witchy Woods. It's always good to have Jack down for a visit. He's a huge help on the farm, and we do a lot a lot of laughing. I got a crossbow with some of my birthday money, and plan to give hunting a go this year. The guys usually hunt at the family farm farther south, but I told TMO I would be willing to give it a shot if my house was close by if I get too cold! ;)
So beyond me suffering a pretty severe bee sting, the rest of September was quite enjoyable here at the farm. It was nice to end the month with a fire on a cool Saturday night. I'll be back with more photos and updates from October. Catch you on the flip!
